THE
PROBLEM
OUR
GOAL
The recycling in Savannah is
confusing and inconvenient,
causing the majority of
residents to avoid recycling.
We want to make recycling easier and less confusing in Savannah, GA.
THE SOLUTION
Curb-Cycle! An app that provides a convenient, on demand, and Uber-like service, simplifying the process of recycling in Savannah, GA.
Curb-Cycle is an Uber-like service; however, instead of picking up people, it is designed to pick up recyclables.
Curb Cycle is...
time-efficient and easy to use
1.
Request pick
up on app
2.
Walk through proper recycling steps
3.
State bag's location and what it looks like
4.

Bag Collaboration
For our customers, we developed a sustainable, reusable bag made out of eco-friendly, pure cotton duck cloth and waterproof polyethylene liner to be used as pickup bags.
We wanted these bags to begin conversations, and to stand out
We reached out to eco-focused non-profits across Savannah to collaborate with us, and we received support from 4! Each company would sponsor a certain bag, and part of the profit from the sales would go back to the company. This not only incentivizes people to purchase the bags, but it also gives back to the environment.

OUR FIRST CUSTOMER
Word got out about our recycling pickup service, and someone reached out and asked us to pick up theirs!
It was a great experience to see our app in action!
OUR PROCESS
Research phase
We started by becoming PROS in everything recycling. We wanted to know more about why we should recycle and the CORRECT way to do so. This also helped us make certain decisions for the app.
After affinitizing that information, we moved on to surveying and interviewing the people of Savannah to get their recycling experience!
We found...
Less than 50% of Savannah residents own a recycling bin
92% of the people we surveyed stated they wish there was an easier way to recycle in Savannah.
75% of the people we interviewed stated they don't recycle at all because of Savannah's confusing and misleading utilities.

Recycling is only picked up every other week
If your recycling bin is left out too late, you are charged and the same if it is out too early.
The Savannah recycling system is difficult to understand for those trying to utilize the facilities. There are hidden and cloudy fees, inconsistent pickups, and even total absence of accessibility in some areas. This leads our citizens to reduce or avoid recycling all together.
Charged extra if recycling bin overflows
Wire-framing
Created the wireframes with the goal in mind of making the app FAST to use. Focusing on convenience!
